Tell me if something about my playing or characterization doesn't sit with you right. Shinobu's a new muse from a new fandom of mine, so I'm breaking her in. Even if I'd been playing her forever though, there's always room for improvement.

Some general, some paradisa-specific bits of headcanon I have for this girlie. Liner notes are in small font.

01) She's soooooo a Daddy's Girl. Her dad gave her the name "Shinobu" when he started teaching her how to use a sword. They only used it during practices and competitions. She also knows a few choice words in Japanese, mainly kendou terms, because of her training.

02) She picked "Shinobu" as her UAA alias because her main reason for joining was to avenge his untimely death. Part of her -- a deeeeep seated part, mind you -- is afraid she won't know what to do with herself once she's accomplished that mission.
I still stick by this even though she never mentions daddy dearest in the sequel. I like to think that she thought of her father as her master in kendou training, and with his murder she not only lost her dad but the teacher she so respected and revered. Since she considers Travis her new master, she's not as hell-bent on avenging her father, which is why the topic never comes up in the sequel. Should she ever happen upon a lead as to who killed him, though, I'm sure she's jump right on it.

03) You know Henry, Travis's hot Irish twin brother? Maybe/possibly/likely killed her father.
It's a fandom theory supported by the fact she freaked out on Travis when he whipped out his beam katana and that he and Henry are um, twins. During their rankings fight, Travis only confirmed that he wasn't Master Jacobs's killer. I'd guess the reason why Shinobu doesn't react to Henry in NMH2 is because she has no reason to suspect he might have done the deed.

04) How did she get into the UAA in the first place? When she was 16, her idiot of a first boyfriend mistook her for another ranked assassin and tried to off her like a crazy person. Well, hooking up with him was kind of a bad idea. But she took his rank when she killed him in self-defense, so guess there's a silver lining to every cloud.

05) Her snack food of choice is popcorn. She says it's because it's healthier than most other snacks. On that note, she's not a health food nut, but she tries to eat right when she can. I mean, people get their cravings, you now.

06) She's girlier than she lets on, but she's showing more of that side of her now. Partly because she's become more... comfortable might not be the right word, but she's use to it here. And maaaaaybe because she's seeing someone now *cough*HiroOkamura*cough*, but she still totally wears the pants in that relationship.

07) Despite that, she still feels like she has to "hide [her] true self" AKA being an assassin, even though there are worse people and the UAA is moot around these here parts. She's used to being secretive, and she's still not 100% comfortable sharing certain things about herself with other people.

08) She has a passing familiarity of otaku culture. Like, she'd know what 4chan is and would recognize that "tsundere" is some kind of anime character type, but she'd be hard-pressed to define the term and wouldn't touch the former with a ten-foot pole. She's also... not quite sure how she feels about Hiro calling her "moe" that one time she was asking around for this dress's owner.
It's her outfit in the sequel, btw. She just doesn't know it yet, obviously. And yes, she would think of what happens three years later as "the sequel" because NMH is wacky and fourth wall-breaking like that. She does suggest Travis use the bathroom before she recounts killing Million Gunman and New Destroyman. If you don't already know, the bathroom's how you save your game. And um, I think I totally veered off-topic here. O.o;;

09) She doesn't think her video game hobby is in any way, shape, or form geeky. She just likes the challenge of making the top score on Dance Dance Revolution and kicking someone's ass at Mortal Combat. Basically, she only plays competitive games.

10) Oh, and that glorious ivory afro of hers? It's bleached. If you look closely, her eyebrows are black or dark brown, which I believe is indicative of her real hair color. It is naturally that voluminous, though.
